Head of CSR Initiatives
Smt. Suryakala Murthy brings to E&J Consulting Services a profound commitment to social welfare, particularly in uplifting women and children in rural areas. With over 35 years of experience in community development, Smt. Murthy’s journey began in 1987 when she founded Mahila Grameena Vidhyaabhivrudhi Samasthe (R) with the visionary goal, “By the Women, For the Women,” dedicated to addressing the unique needs of women and children.
Key Contributions and Initiatives:
Pioneering Education for Girls: Smt. Murthy launched free educational programs, focusing on the foundational grades 1 to 8, exclusively for girls. She further established Niveditha Vidyaniketan, the first girls' high school in Devanahalli Taluk, which offers comprehensive education from grades 1 to 10. Additionally, she initiated a school dedicated to the children of laborers and rescued child laborers, backed by the Department of Labor.
Empowering Rural Women (2002-2004): In partnership with the Central Social Welfare Board, she led condensed courses aimed at enhancing literacy and vocational skills for rural women, thereby empowering them economically and socially.
Family Counseling and Advocacy: Recognized for her impactful work, Smt. Murthy was chosen by the Police Department and the Department of Women and Child Welfare to offer free family counseling services. She continues to provide this essential support in the Devanahalli Police Circle Inspector’s office, helping families resolve disputes and guiding women in crisis.
Women’s Empowerment and Skill Development: She has driven numerous awareness campaigns and training sessions across Devanahalli Taluk. Partnering with organizations like NABARD Bengaluru, the Karnataka State Women Development Corporation, and the Textile Department, she introduced women to skill-based training in terracotta arts, tailoring, and entrepreneurship (SMO and EDP programs).
Financial Literacy for Women’s Self-Help Groups: Committed to building economic resilience, she led bookkeeping and financial literacy programs for Sthree Shakti and self-help groups, supported by Karnataka’s Department of Women and Child Welfare and NABARD Bengaluru. These initiatives have significantly empowered women across Devanahalli and Hoskote Taluks.
Smt. Murthy’s vast experience, unwavering dedication, and history of successful community projects make her an invaluable leader for E&J’s CSR programs. Her work aligns seamlessly with our mission to create sustainable social impact, with a particular focus on fostering talent and empowerment in rural Karnataka.
